Listen to the fascinating stories of unique women at this special museum, the only one in the world devoted to the American West’s inspirational women.

The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame offers an educational experience for adults and children. Nowhere else in the world can you find so much information about the inspirational women of the American West collected in one place. Interact with multimedia displays and exhibits as you discover the stories of the rodeo stars, ranchers, pioneers and other impressive women who helped shape the distinctive identity of this part of the country.

Since it was founded in 1975, the museum has expanded rapidly, moving from a library basement in Hereford, Texas, to its current home. This splendid redbrick building features pictures of women of the American West built into its highly ornamented façade. Marvel at how far the museum has come from its humble beginnings. Its collections now include over 4,000 items, relating to over 750 different individual women.

Enter the museum and prepare to get to know women such as artists Georgia O’Keeffe and Maria Martinez, gunwoman Annie Oakley, author Laura Ingalls Wilder, Hollywood superstar Dale Evans, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and many more. See these women’s personal belongings, including everything from photos to saddles and clothing. Engage with their stories through hands-on exhibits that invite you to learn in an interactive way.

Special events are held here regularly. The museum also has two theaters. Check the movie schedule before you arrive.

The museum has an admission fee, with discounts available for children. After you have finished browsing the galleries, pick up mementos of your visit at the Cowgirl Shop.

The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame is located within the Will Rogers Memorial Complex, where large-scale events such as rodeos are regularly held. It sits in the middle of the Fort Worth Cultural District, the arts and culture hub of the town. Take the time to discover the area’s other brilliant attractions, such as the world-renowned Kimbell Art Museum and the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.
