"The staff was standout at Hotel Housei, they went above and beyond to ensure enjoyable stay. The meals were beautifully presented with wide variety of different foods. The room was spacious with tatami mats. Loved the indoor and outdoor baths / springs. Close to everything. Unexpected top notch service and value, indeed a winner. "

"What really made our stay special is kindness and attentiveness of the staff. We had large suitcases, and though the train station was a five minute walk, the front desk manager noticed us struggle walking uphill and came to our rescue with a hotel van, loaded and unloaded our bags. The dropoff service was not included, and we did not ask for it. He did it out of compassion and kindness. Very touching. Food was delicious! Do book dinner if its available. We had a traditional tatami room, which was cute, though a bit dated with some tears on the faded couch upholstery. The shower was very small, which is expected. We were lucky to have a private shower as many ryakans make you share. Great experience overall."

"Staff were friendly with many different nationality so meaning no issues for foreigners to stay in.. The hotel is nicely & newly renovated with Ski lifts just at the side of the hotel. We stayed for 5 nights and everything was just great throughout our stay! Will definitely stay again when we return. Thank you for taking good care of us ^^"

"We were picked up from the train and immediately got a ride to the monkey park, a major reason for our visit. The hotel then sent a shuttle to pick us up and return us to the hotel where our luggage had already been taken to the room. This was a more traditional place with shoe removal and slippers provided. Dinner was incredible despite my not loving a few of the items in the set course menu. Breakfast was equally fulfilling. We did not take advantage of the public onsens due to our short visit but did use the private onsen in site. At the end of the stay we were driven back to the train station for our departure and given a small token of candies. An excellent stay!"
