Visit the historic grassy area known for its rich European medieval art and some of the most remarkable architectural structures in the world.

Discover four iconic religious edifices in the Piazza del Duomo, also known as the Piazza dei Miracoli. These grand structures include the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Pisa Baptistery, the Pisa Cathedral and the sacred Monumental Cemetery. Enjoy an unforgettable historical experience with a range of walking and Segway tours available.

See the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa, a freestanding bell tower constructed from approximately 1173 to 1372 and famous for its unintentional tilt. Climb the renowned structure in a group or take a private tour. Discover the stunning views of Pisa from the top, where on a clear day you can see the Italian Alps. Rent a Segway scooter and take a smooth ride to the other grand structures in the Piazza del Duomo.

The Leaning Tower is the plaza’s most recognizable edifice however, the Pisa Cathedral dominates the square. Admire this marvel of Romanesque architecture with its elegant tiered façade and spectacular interior mosaics. Marvel at Giovanni Pisano’s pulpit inside, elaborately carved by the famous Italian sculptor in the early 14th century.

Visit the Pisa Baptistery, a Roman Catholic architectural masterpiece. Construction commenced in the 12th century and took over two centuries to complete. The grand structure is an example of the transition from the Romanesque to the Gothic style and is Italy’s largest baptistery.

Behold the Monumental Cemetery at the northern edge of the square. The historical cemetery was built on sacred soil from Golgotha and is a sight to remember. Discover the 84 Roman sarcophagi in the cloisters of the old cemetery and wander alongside the immaculate lawns in the interior courtyard.

Entry to the Piazza del Duomo and the Pisa Cathedral is free year-round however, tours of the other sites and priority packages vary in price. A bus service operates from Pisa Centrale to the historic square. Alternatively, use free tourist parking at the Parcheggio Via Pietrasantina parking lot, just under a 15-minute walk from the square.

After experiencing the historical wonders, indulge in gelato and espresso at one of Italy’s finest cafés surrounding the Piazza del Duomo.
