The staff were very helpful and friendly and we had our own reception area which was quick. Our room as on the top floor with only one other room. "I liked the location, which was excellent, right in the centre of Ambleside. There are plenty of shops, especially hillwalking type shops nearby. It is possible to walk to the lake, but for me it was a long walk. There are plenty of buses to go to the lake, to Windermere, or Bowness-on -Windermere. The hotel has a dog-friendly bar, serving nice meals, with nice friendly staff."
