We had a wonderful time at Barcelo (June 18 to June 25, 2024). This hotel is great if you want more of a relaxing vacation. The staff were EXCELLENT, friendly and always accommodating. The food was great in the buffets and restaurants. We booked ocean front beach view in premium level which was nice as long as you don’t get ground level. Otherwise, the beach view is of people and the pool in front of your room. Areas of improvement: 1. Rooms need to be updated especially the bathroom. 2. The gym air conditioning doesn’t work that good so it is hot. The staff couldn’t fix the ceiling fans so they did bring in one floor fan. Overall, I would give it a 4 star out of 5 star rating. It is not as luxurious as a RIU, Dreams or Secrets but definitely worth the price! Enjoy your stay.

I like that the property was really quite and family friendly. I didn't like that the staff will tell you one time for dinner and they staff and restaurant wasn't ready until half an hour later. I would like to see more selection on the food for breakfast, also more selection for vegetarians. The staff was really nice, I have to give them a 10 plus.

Bargain for the price. Buffet and snack bar selections could use some improvement - same food for multiple days in a row. The crepe and omelet bars were fabulous and the Italian restaurant was amazing. Service at the breakfast buffets by the serving staff was poor. Didn’t receive the VIP items as described on check-in. Shout out to Jorge at the pool - great server, attentive, and friendly. If you’re looking for a basic, affordable experience - this is your place.

I really like this resort. I have been a couple times, the the beach is great, pools are great, good drinks served all day. The food isn't the best but for the price point I'll always come back.
