One of the last surviving green spaces in Singapore city centre, this 74 hectare site offers a great day out for environmental enthusiasts and families alike. Indigenous flora and fauna are on show, as well as one of the world's best orchid research facilities. You can marvel at the beauty of some of the worldās most amazing plants and animals, then relax and have your lunch all in the same place.
A top tip to get the best out of your visit is to come early. The gardens open before sunrise, and a morning visit means you miss the strongest heat and the busiest part of the day. Watching the sun rise above the treetops is a magical experience, and the calls of the birds make for an atmospheric accompaniment.
The National Orchid Garden is a wonderful treasure, with over 1,000 varieties and a further 2,000 hybrid orchids, this is an overpowering riot of colour. Furthermore, it is also in the vanguard of global research and preservation efforts in relation to these beautifully delicate flowers. Young children will be delighted by the Jacob Ballas Children's Garden, with its water play area. There is also the opportunity for them to learn how photosynthesis works and how important it is to life on earth.
Located in the heart of the city, Singapore Botanic Gardens can be reached by car, taxi or on foot. A number of different bus routes will bring you to the gardens. Public parking is available on Tyersall Avenue, and there is pay parking in the gardens. Open every day of the week, and admission is free. There is a moderate charge for visiting the National Orchid Garden.

Reviews of Singapore Botanic Gardens
5/5 - Excellent
Involves quite a bit of walking. Need hat & good walking shoes. Go on cooler days or times of day. Well worth a visit.
5/5 - Excellent
Tremendous flora the gingers and orchids are astounding, a shuttle back to Bukit Timah or at least part way from the Orchid Garden would be helpful, in the heat, it is a long walk back to the MRT, which was fabulous by the way, we used it for all 7 days we were there, including to and from Changi Airport
5/5 - Excellent
Take a meal for the trip and comfy shoes for the walk. Also make sure cameras and phone are charged for photos.
5/5 - Excellent
We went very early, it was delightful walking in the rainforest and many of the locals acknowledged us, checking if we needed assistance, when they saw us with our map. Everyone so helpful. We had morning tea at Botanic Gardens, again staff very helpful showing us how use the machine to pay. What a wonderful place to visit, we just adored it. Our favourite place in Singapore. Thank you.
