"Been greated by the door men/concierge, checking in and been shown to your room was lovely and welcoming. All the staff are friendly and happy to have a conversation. Breakfast is very comprehensive and first class. The rooms are large ,well appointed and the bed very comfortable. Any issues are dealt with immediately to your satisfaction. The spa is just great and everything works properly. We would certainly go again and recommend it to anyone. "

"Very large room with good kitchen. Note - no oven, just microwave/convection, and the extractor fan doesn’t actually take the smoke out, it just circulates it, we set off a smoke alarm. "Thoroughly enjoyable stay - staff were excellent throughout, only downside was I’d booked for the rooftop terrace, but when we got up the sides had been drawn down and we were not allowed to have our drinks outside - the reason given was that it was too cold, but we’d have been fine outside for the time we were staying so not sure whether that was just a bit of a premature closure. "My first trip to York, so wasn’t sure where would be best to stay but this place is perfect! Situated on Walmgate, I easily walked to all the places I wanted to see, usually in 5-10 minutes. The hotel is beautifully decorated, the staff are welcoming, professional and have great local knowledge, and my room was gorgeous, clean and very comfortable. Would happily stay there again if I’m back in York."
