Capturing the dynamic, fast-paced Toronto way of life, this smaller town nonetheless offers a breath of fresh air with many idyllic parks and golf courses.

Shop for all your favorite brands at the mall or escape to lush, leafy parkland in Thornhill. Perfect your driving skills on several superb fairways or check out the nearby ski slopes.

Few visitors to Thornhill can resist the temptation of the Promenade Mall, with more than 175 stores positioned helpfully right in the heart of town. Modern and spacious in its design, the mall has an abundance of well-known brands, such as Calvin Klein, Club Monaco and Pandora. Visit the cinema, restaurant and several popular fast-food outlets.

After a busy morning, escape to one of the spacious parks. Wade Gate Park to the west is the perfect place to relax and play while Pierre Elliot Trudeau Park directly south is a maze of thick trees that feel far away from the urban environment.

Visit the Thornhill Heritage Garden at Thornhill Village Library. With over 160 species, including heirloom plants, the site replicates a Canadian-style cottage garden from the 1890s. Local organizations have contributed to its growing stock and upkeep.

Take advantage of the generous selection of high-quality golf courses in the area. Thornhill Golf and Country Club has 18 diverse holes while women may prefer to visit the Toronto Ladies Golf Course a short stroll east.

Nine more holes are available at the Uplands Golf and Country Club, although its star attraction is the attached skiing area. Throughout the winter months four slopes are open, all with lifts and tow ropes. Rent equipment and sign up for lessons. Relax in the bar to watch others enjoying gliding down the hills.

Thornhill is located on the border between Vaughn to the west and Markham to the east, approximately 23 miles (37 kilometers) north of the center of Toronto. Thornhill is a popular residential section of the metropolitan Toronto area however, you’ll also find several large hotels for visitors that are open year-round.

"Very good mid level property. Modern, not elegant. Located on several floors of an office building. Good breakfast. Note - it sounds as if a rail yard is near the building. No issue if you are a medium to heavy sleeper, but a light sleeper would have issues."
