We have visited Pavo Real 4 times. I would definitely recommend the paradise off the main hotel zone. We are always greeted warmly by Emmanuel. Our rooms always clean , comfy you won’t spend much time in your room when you see the oasis around you , beautiful beach, pools and I had a fabulous massage. This place is wonderful. Restaurant staff and food is exceptional . This place is great for families or couples. We are getting ready to plan our next trip to Pavo !!!

Good for the price. Everything is in Italian, which makes it difficult for Mexican-Canadians to go around the hotel. I reported the toilet was not working (twice), they promised they would go fix it, but never did. The water pipes are incredible loud to sleep. They only provide 1 access card to your room, which is stupid since you only get power when plugging it inside the room, and makes it difficult to leave any device charging or your kid sleeping while you go get something outside; the 3 times I asked for a spare access card, they couldn't provide it either because the guy in charge was not there or they said they were busy with the system. Staff and location is absolutely outstanding though.

The rooms were very poorly kept . My bathroom leaked and it had a smell even after it was cleaned . There were a lot of bugs in the room and cats stayed on the balcony’s of most rooms on the first floors . The food was ok and the drinks were very cheap .

Nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff
The hotel was really nice and the staff helpful and friendly. We stayed for 5 nights and the food was great but pretty much the same for every meal. There’s plenty of variety to change what you select but it would be nice to have a differing selection for a longer stay. It’s quite a way from Tulum centre but this isn’t a bad thing as it is a nice quiet location. It’s about £12 in a taxi into town but a collectivo from the end of the street is about £1.20

They turned off the water without letting us know and we were taking showers. Beds were hard. It was like sleeping on the floor. Air conditioner wasn't working well. Rooms were hot. Beds only have a sheet on the bed.

The hotel is situated on the beach very nice . Rooms do need updating the ac didn’t work and the water temperature in bathroom needs to be regulated as often it was scolding hot water without notice . Food is good but the resort is full of Italians .

Great experience for the price
We stayed at this resort for two nights in early July. Overall, I was pleased with my experience at PavoReal. The staff were friendly and helpful; the property is quaint and well-kept; and the food definitely exceeded expectations, with a large variety of high-quality Italian food at each meal. Keep in mind, this is a very Italian-centric resort that caters almost exclusively to its Italian clientele. I believe we were the only two non-Italians at the resort when we were there. Complaints: The rooms are quite hot and musky. The AC unit is above the front door, around the corner from the bed, making it insuffienct to properly cool the rooms at night. The mattresses and pillows are VERY hard and uncomfortable. I couldn’t sleep at all the first night. We ended up staying our second night at an Airbnb just so we could sleep properly, then came back for breakfast. Additionally, the pools have very inconvenient hours: 8am-5pm. My other complaint would be the loud bar music that plays each night until past 10pm. As others have commented, this makes it fairly difficult to sleep. So yes, this is a great resort for the price. But the rooms leave one wanting.

Wonderful smaller size all inclusive
The small size of this resort allows for much more personal attention from the staff. They are terrific. Unfortunately I broke my foot while down there. They couldn't have been more helpful. Staff all attempt to communicate and do a great job. Only downside for Americans is that the majority of the visitors were Italian. That was OK for us but difficult for our 10yr old daughter to find someone to play with.

Broke a tooth in restaurant. Hotel didn’t care.
I broke a tooth while eating in the hotels restaurant and they decided not to do anything about it. Short story, don’t stay here. Long story, keep on reading. I’m currently on my 4th day here in Pavo Real and I’m leaving tomorrow morning. On my second night here, I chewed on something hard while having dinner at the hotels restaurant and broke a teeth. After dinner, I calmly went to the bathroom, confirmed that what I had in my hand were dental fragments and went to the reception. They had a mixed reaction, asking me if I needed a doctor but at the same time laying doubts on their foods fault (they insisted I had no proof, but I stopped eating immediately after the incident and my plate was swiftly taken away). The managers (Lisette Caballero and Ana Cortes) were not there, so I was told that I would have an answer on the hotels response on the next day (I left a written complaint, which was signed by public relations manager. Picture attached). This finally took a full 48 hours and I was just told that the hotel would take no responsability since I had no proof on this being their fault. Walking out of their restaurant with 3 pieces of my molar in my hand seemed not to be enough for these people (picture attached). They also lied in the process, stating that the roasted meat I ate that day had no bones in it, which is false according to a worker from the kitchen I spoke to the next day. Next week we are filing a formal complaint with the corresponding authorities.

Authentic colorful look, far from S. Tulum strip
It's a lovely hotel with an authentic decor and look, great ocean view rooms and nice pools overlooking the ocean as well. The hotel is full-board meaning it included meals for us with our room stay, unfortunately we were underwhelmed by the selection and quality of the food. Besides fresh fruit and an omelette station, the food options and quality were very average - we only tried the main buffet restaurant. Fresh coffee was not available at all, only machine (pre-mix) coffee and this was unexpected. Another surprise was NOT having wi-fi included in the room stay stay, of course it's available with an additional fee however we travel and these days it's rare to come-by hotels and properties without wi-fi included. The hotel lobby wi-fi was very patchy. The Hotel hosts evening events however it was entirely in Italian and catered to Italian guests and while we LOVE anything Italian, we don't speak the language and were visiting Mexico so it threw us off. The hotel staff were very friendly. The distance from the South end of the Tulum strip is a bit far from the main happening areas in town. Overall it's a nice hotel but in my opinion it's a decent option for families looking to be away from the Tulum town, South end beach and restaurants. There isn't much to do close-by so having a rental car is recommended.

Disappointed - could have been a great visit
First, front desk won't take American Express. Then they want to charge $161 for room deposit. Never mention that you must return the beach towels to the front desk when leaving so at checkout this required an additional trip back to the room. Room shower leaks all over the floor. The cheap plastic toilet seat SHIFTS every time you use it so it is very uncomfortable. Must brush teeth with bottled water, yet no free water bottels supplied in the room. Super small rooms for the price is very disappointing. Ants in bathroom sink. No closet to actually hand clothes. If you don't leave key in slot, A/C stops while you are absent so you must work with just one room key instead of two. Wifi an additional fee after paying high price for tiny room. Staff very, very friendly and food was very good - we liked the wide selection of food. Sorry but we can't recommend this place - it's too overpriced for poor rooms. Security seems adequate. Thanks for listening - much potential here but you need to do better.

Beach resort out of town
The hotel has buffet meals three times a day included. The food is better than average. Beer is included with meals but not wine. Our room was too close to where all the group activities were for our taste, loud music and announcements. The fan did not work and the bathroom smelled bad. My stuff got locked in the safe and I couldn’t get it open but the beach was beautiful and it was warm and sunny and they had rooms the day before for half what other beach hotels cost in the area
