"Hinotani is a seasonal find, like a good sake or cigar by the riverside, with tatami rooms, intelligent and proactive staff, and a Japanese experience that is local but aims to be international. The water park below is an eyesore that runs to summer end, but the food and room view in the morning - don't look down - are Japan's essentials, and add fall moon, nice baths, local drink and humor in F1season , and the immediate patron reflection is 'when will I be back?',"
"I was new to Japanese culture. The hotel was very clean and hospitable. The bed was very stiff and a room for 3 adults was one big bed to share. We were expecting a hotel like the USA. Different but I think for the area it was well done."
"I like to stay at these adult hotels because you usually end up with more space for the money, Fine Stay was as expected here. Service was good old Japanese style, though mentioning that no cleaning for the day but asking for coffee and new towels did not work. Would have given a higher rating except that the tv in the bathroom, the light and control in the jacuzzi was broken. Also, the tv remote never worked reliaby and always reset to maxiumn volume at the beginning of each day. Otherwise if...
"Rooms are big by Japanese accommodation standards and so are the bathrooms. The culture shock of entering a love hotel is soon forgotten but subtle reminders like the lack of wifi and available TV usage remain.
Overall very relaxing to stay in."
"Location : around 10 min walk from the JR/kintetsu station. It is flat road all along. Okay with the luggage. Walking distance to local restaurants. The tourist info suggests some Matsusaka beef restaurants. Good suggestions with high quality beef at reasonable price!
Amenities: there is a microwave near the reception. It was getting cooler and the microwave help keep the food warm.
Room: nice and clean. Size is okay for a solo traveller
Staff: very nice. They helped me call the restaurant...
"Very limited seats at the breakfast area so we (4pax) cannot sit together. Suggests that the hotel allows to choose the time slots for breakfast like other hotels to control the crowd.
The breakfast is simple but delicious. The room is also spacious and plenty parking space.
Will choose this hotel if we visit this place again.

"This hotel gave us a surprise if its room size which is bigger than expected. There are also chairs with coffee table in the room which is rare in most of the hotel rooms in Japan. Hotel’s breakfast is fantastic and hotel owner is really putting lots of efforts and heart in its hospitality to all guests."

"Wonderful experience! Friendly and helpful staff, clean and large room (Annex Grande), good restaurant, relaxing onsen, beautiful lobby lounge with delicious amenities, self-laundry available, luggage storage available, easy parking. You have to walk out onto the street and re-enter the premises (adjacent bldg) to access the restaurant and onsen if you reserve a room on the Annex Grande side of the hotel. Besides that minor detail, it was a great stay and would reserve again! "

"A rather unique staying experience at a spacious log house and one you'd want to be bringing friends along to. Absolutely excellent value for money, just inconvenient to get to (car/taxi basically mandatory).
---
I went with enough people that we booked 2 of the standard quadruple bed rooms. Since these rooms are actually two halves of the same cabin (unlike the private villas), we basically had the whole cabin to ourselves. We gathered on one of the two sides and got pretty rowdy, then checked from the outside to confirm that it was fine and shouldn't be a disturbance to our neighbours.
We opted for the barbecue grill rental (red Coleman grill), which they set up on one of our sides along with a bunch of chairs and basic lanterns. We went to a nearby Aeon supermarket to pick up meat, drinks, etc. (plus oil and condiments — anything that goes in the mouth wasn't provided and we had to procure those ourselves). BBQ turned out to be a very cost effective and fun way to have dinner with friends. Apparently if it had rained, they have portable stoves as replacements that can be used indoors.
The kitchen was well stocked, with available items listed in Japanese somewhere on their website. We could have easily bought ingredients and cooked a meal here instead if we wanted.
Only downside is you'll want a car (or taxi) to get here, past a rather narrow winding path in the woods. But it's located pretty well in the Shima area, only about 10 min drive from Shima Spain Village."

"Lovely hotel with friendly staff. The onsens are an additional nice touch. The downside is how far it is from the downtown area, but the shuttle makes that a non issue, also the bus drops you off right at the door. A convenience store nearby is also good if you need late night food."

"Service is good. From the reception to the bell boy to the restaurant staff. The male manager at the breakfast reception is always bright and courteous every morning. Club room is super worth it since there’s food throughout the day with yummy cheesecakes etc. There’s even free flow liquor available. The club room is pretty and nicely renovated. We loved our stay at TOBA we stayed 3 nights"
