Holidays at this pretty beach on Corfu’s east coast offer watersports, a scenic mountain backdrop and unsurpassed views of the Ionian Sea.

On Corfu’s east coast, Barbati Beach is a resort where you can experience a combination of relaxation, adventure and Greek culture. Swim in the crystal-clear Ionian Sea and take boat trips to secluded bays. Enjoy walks to traditional villages and marvel at Corfu’s tallest mountain. Barbati Beach is a short drive from Corfu Town and attracts families, couples and groups of friends.

The beach is split into two sections. The main beach is a 1-mile-long (1.6-kilometer) stretch of bright-white pebbles backed by forested hills. The water here is warm and calm, therefore ideal for swimming. Rent a sunbed and umbrella along the beach. There are changing rooms, toilets and showers too.

If you are feeling energetic, rent watersport equipment, such as a windsurfer or kayak. Enjoy a thrilling ride on a speedboat-powered water sled or join a boat tour to less visited bays, including the unspoiled Agni Bay. To the north is a smaller beach, where you can watch local fishermen cast their lines into the Ionian Sea. The perfect blue-green water here is also a great place for snorkeling and scuba diving. Rent equipment and arrange lessons at the local dive school.

Explore the landmarks and traditional villages located in the green hills that surround the beach. Check out the remains of St. Nikolas church or make the easy 20-minute walk to the resort of Ipsos. Gaze up at Mount Pantokrator, which dominates the backdrop of Barbati Beach. It’s the tallest mountain on the island of Corfu.

Stroll along the beachfront to find a varied collection of taverns and bars. Sit at one of the outdoor terraces and eat plates of fresh fish or sip on a cocktail. Find more bars and restaurants plus souvenir shops and supermarkets along the resort’s main road.

Barbati Beach is about a 35-minute drive north from Corfu Town. Public buses that travel along the coastal road regularly stop at this beach resort. If arriving by car, find parking available on the roads that lead down to the beach.
