The hotel is a perfect hidden getaway in the middle of the jungle, literally, where you will hear howler monkeys every morning, have an incredible opportunity to see Parrots, and all kinds of other wonderful wildlife. The food at this hotel is on point and the staff is very accommodating. 10/10 I highly recommend."

"Excellent stay at Mawamba lodge. Gardens around the ground are great and we saw sloths and Toucans a short walk from our room. Breakfast was great as was the dinner we had at the restaurant. Pool can get quite busy with families and children. Town is only a short walk away or they can provide a river taxi. Also took part in the tours arranged by the hotel which was fantastic with a very knowledgeable tour guide. Would highly recommend it visiting Tortuguero "

"Holy cow, this place was spectacular! A stunning combination of modern comfort (fully outfitted kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, bathrooms and living spaces with fans, grill, WiFi, filtered water) and true natural immersion, with the open-walled format and private location. The pathway to the private beach is beautiful and convenient, and the customer service was kind, quick, and helpful. We didn't have a car, which was totally fine - Manzanillo is an easy 15-minute walk (on the beach or by the road), and Uber helped out when it rained. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer - it was good for two nights, but I'd love to come back for a week, stock up at the grocery store, and truly relax and unwind."
