Dolphin Cove is the perfect place to meet the most intelligent animals of the ocean deeps. Jump into man-made pools with playful and vibrant dolphins to enjoy their tricks. Stingrays swim around a natural cove, surrounded by rainforest – and you can join them! Snorkelling, boat and kayak trips, and a jungle walk where you’ll encounter lots of exotic animals are all available also.
Mexican bottlenose dolphins are kept in a lagoon by a barrier of rocks through which seawater can pass, and which attempts to mimic their natural environment as closely as possible. Some fish can even get in here at high tide.
There is an array of options to choose between for your swim with the dolphins, with something for young and old alike. For small children and those who are less comfortable in the water, there are gentle introductions from a platform. This evolves into a wider choice of dolphin swims, with the ride holding a dorsal fin the most thrilling available. Alternatively, take an underwater walk with a special helmet, or try a swim with the (small and tame) sharks.
Treasure Reef is sure to delight the younger members of the family. This brings the golden days of piracy in Port Royal, Kingston back to life, as children sail around and search for treasure.
Take a kayak with a glass bottom out to enjoy the marine life from above, or try a hike along the Jungle Trail with its magnificent birdlife and iguanas, as well as its coastal views.
Dolphin Cove is found in St Ann, which is just a short drive from the heart of Ocho Rios. It’ll take a full day to enjoy the many activities on offer, and to get the most value for the significant entry fee. Under-6s enter for free, but all need to be able to swim to take part in the dolphin programmes. You must reserve these ahead of your visit. No cameras are allowed, and please leave your jewellery, sunscreen and oils at home, as they can hurt the dolphins.
