The location it's conveniently (15-minutes away from Funchal) if you decide not to rent a car since public transportation is reliable in the area, literally there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel.... "This was our ninth visit to Hotel Porto Santa Maria and as usual it did not disappoint. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. As usual, nothing's ever to much for them and it's refreshing to see the same faces all around the hotel. We find it a peaceful haven. The cleanliness is excellent. "A very welcoming hotel with friendly and helpful staff . All areas are spotless and rooms spacious and comfortable. The grounds are immaculate and there is one heated pool . Very much appreciated in the winter months ! The hotel is in a convenient position with a short downward walk into Funchal and also benefits from certain areas within The Savoy Palace . Breakfasts delicious .. I could not fault this hotel and would definitely recommend. We will return ! "
