"We originally planned to visit this property in September, but a hurricane forced us to reschedule. Mary kindly warned us about the conditions and helped us pick a safer date. We returned for New Year, and it was absolutely worth it!The cabin is in a private, peaceful location with few, distantly spaced neighbors. While the lake wasn’t full due to the season, we didn’t mind, as we wanted to enjoy the cozy indoors. The home is beautifully decorated, well-furnished, and fully equipped. Outdoor seating offers stunning views that pictures don’t do justice—we loved having breakfast outside every day.This is the perfect getaway for making memories and escaping busy lives. There’s plenty of room for multiple families to gather while still maintaining privacy. The kids enjoyed games, and we watched movies downstairs. Although the internet wasn’t great, that was not our goal. Mary’s detailed instructions covered everything we needed or would ever need.Overall, it was a relaxing, peaceful stay with unmatched views and comfort. Mary is very nice and personable. We can’t wait to return this summer!"

"Overall we had a great time. The fire place wasn't working but outside of that the cabin is nice. Basement is perfect for entertaining kids. The Internet isn't the strongest so come prepared for that. The views are just amazing. We sat outside a lot just staring at the mountains all around us. The host was very responsive. The town of Murphy is super cute and way less crowded than most.."

"We recently spent a long weekend at Buckhorn Lodge. Our primary reason for choosing it was the mountain location and 57 acres. Even going in with high expectations, they were exceeded!The lodge itself is a great blend of rustic and comfortable, up on a ridge with a great view. The real star however was the property. We never left the property and spent our days hiking and exploring. According to my GPS watch, there's nearly 4 miles of gravel roads and hiking trails, including a favorite trail that goes from the house to the pond. It was like having our own slice of a national park, complete with a mountain stream. We also loved having fires in the fire pit at the lake. We went down a couple of nights for some phenomenal star gazing. At the end of each day we enjoyed the hot tub. We used it every night and it was a great way to relax while looking at the stars. We look forward to returning to Buckhorn Lodge!One note - AWD/4WD is truly a good idea. A couple of hills peaked out at 17 degree inclines, and even with dry conditions, 4WD was a big help. While my truck likely would've been good in 2WD, any slick conditions will definitely require AWD/4WD."

"Cute cozy cabin with the feel of home. Quiet wooded area outside of town. Just a short drive to the local shops and dining. Home was adequately equipped with the essentials. Like most mountainous areas the gps will lead you astray if you aren't paying attention. Property manager was easy to communicate with. Overall a great experience. We will definitely consider this rental for our next visit to the Murphy NC area."

"Perfectly suited to our family , with everything you could possibly need for cooking and serving a gathering…… while there was room for more, we were 4-5 , but had family over for meals and games. Beautiful views, wonderful wood burning stove and plenty of space to spread out. Recommend!!!!!"
