"Classic modern Japanese Inn with shared bathrooms and onsen, tatami rooms with Japanese bedding. No mens room on the 2nd floor. No staff, check-in and out automated. Basic facilities but all working order. Clean and Good location for exploring Yuzawa area, if you are comfortable with Japanese style travel."

"Hotel is okay from a room/cleaniness. Check-in was a problem with both hotels.com and the actual check-in. Hotels.com doesn't handle international travel well as they didn't put in that the room we chose was double occupancy. It's not in our receipt which is telling me that it probably got lost in the email to the hotel. It's in the app but apparently that wasn't relayed to the hotel. When we checked in, the reception said it was for single occupancy although we paid the double rate already...

"Very traditional Japanese hotel. Enjoyed the experience but as an American, I didn’t think the food was very good and I typically love Japanese food. There was an excessive use of gelatin coating on many of the dishes. Also, 2.25 hours for dinner was too long. We waited 15 mins after finishing each course to get the next one. "

"For some reason I thought there would be a garden surrounding the ryokan, but not the property owner’s fault that I invented that haha. GREAT staff. GREAT stay. Loved it. "

"Country Inn Canadian House exceeded our expectations; it is classy and down to earth. Masao and Yasuko are fabulous hosts. Meals were nutritious and delicious. All rooms/facilities were comfortable and clean. Masao provided shuttles to and from town, the slopes, and the train station. We would definitely stay there again. "
