"We had high hopes for this ryokan, and while the stay was overall great, there were a few downsides. The property itself is gorgeous, and the staff was kind and attentive, but the place definitely had a noticeable mildew smell, which took away from the experience a bit. Unfortunately, we missed out on both breakfast and dinner because we didnā€™t book those in advance (lesson learned). I tried reaching out 24 hours before check-in but never got a response, so just a heads-up to plan meals ahead...

"Unbelievable night here. Views of lake Ashi and Mount Fuji the best you can get. Even from our personal onsen or balcony footpath. The kids loved watching a movie on the big projector while the parents enjoyed the view. Fridge full of free gifts of food, wine and beer plus soft drinks also. Nice touch. We absolutely loved it here. Caught the bus from odawara station which took about 55mins and the bus stop is just outside the accommodation (Hakone Shiso Mae). On way back 2 bus stops either side...
