"one night stay (22/02/2025). The doorman and check in staff were really friendly. Found out the hotel was recently refurbished. It looked really clean and had a homely character. Really cool feature was the framed pictures of their archives including ledgers and historical photos of the hotel, which they had found in a storeroom during the renovation. We stayed in Room 103 on the first floor facing the main street. It is a gorgeous cosy and large room. The bathroom was spectacular, it had a shower space and a separate bath! If I stayed longer I would have tried out the bath. The bed was comfortable and I had a good night sleep. Room temperature was perfect. The only minor issue was because the windows were not double glazed we could hear conversations and noise from the street. Fortunately it was not constant. Breakfast was good. Had the full English breakfast. Large portions and they came out pretty quickly after ordering. Very good selection of bread, pastries, jams, juices and cereal. Attentive and friendly staff. "

"Lovely hotel, old, cosy and quaint. Staff very friendly and pleasant. Parking at the back was a bonus ( note, a little sign would help, missed it the first time and had to go around again). Great breakfast to start the day. "

"It may not be a 5 star hotel but I would give Tennyson 5 stars for the way guests needs are catered for. Entry was simple and effective thru key safe. the room was clean comfortable and warm - I returned from a meal at the local Wetherspoons (brilliantly converted cinema covered in lights!) to find the heating had come on and the room was warm as toast. Breakfast items were in the room with access to a kitchen kitted out with microwave, toaster etc. The bed was clean and comfortable and the bathroom had a decent size shower you could move in. For a handy overnight stop it was perfect and very reasonable. Woke up the next morning fully refreshed to be greeted by the first snowfall of the year.....
