Purchase a hot dog and watch the San Diego Padres, California’s southernmost Major League Baseball team, play on their home field.

Experience America’s favorite pastime in San Diego’s Petco Park. Enjoy stunning views of southern California as you watch a baseball game, concert or other sporting event. The park is named after San Diego-based pet supplies retailer Petco.

Petco Park opened in 2004, replacing the former Qualcomm Stadium. It is home to the San Diego Padres, a Major League Baseball team. Join a sea of fans, decked out in the team’s blue and white, during a home game.

Learn about the historic Western Metal Supply Co., which serves as the cornerstone of the park. Built in 1909, the brick building is over a century older than the stadium that was built around it. The building’s corner, marked with a vertical yellow stripe, now serves as the foul pole for leftfield.

Note some of the more hidden features in Petco Park. Near the East Village Gate, pay homage at the statue of longtime Padres broadcaster and Hall of Fame baseball player Jerry Coleman. On the batter’s eye screen beyond center field, look at the numbers of retired players and plaques of Padres Hall of Fame players.

Check out Petco Park’s famed park-within-a-park, located just beyond the outfield walls. Relax on the grass and admire views of swaying palm trees and the ocean in the distance.

Explore the many shops and restaurants surrounding Petco Park. Downtown San Diego has lots of things to see and do and the area surrounding the ballpark is no exception. Take a leisurely stroll down K Street, which, between 7th and 10th Avenue, is open to pedestrians only. Walk just southwest to stroll along the marina and admire beautiful yachts. See the USS Midway Museum, a giant floating aircraft carrier.

Find Petco Park between 7th and 10th Avenues, south of J Street, in downtown San Diego. Parking is limited and can be a bit expensive. Many visitors prefer to take the San Diego Trolley. All three lines stop within steps of the ballpark.
