"I really enjoyed the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. It’s an older hotel that’s being taken care of and has that old Hawaiian charm. The restaurant was excellent. Never had the continental breakfast, we always ate in the restaurant. Didn’t look like much though. Stay on the 4th floor and up on the coconut island side. "

"We had a good stay at Magic Skies. The property seemed to have a nice atmosphere with the different spaces and room themes though there were some areas undergoing maintenance at the time of our stay. We didn’t end up having the breakfast service offered but it seemed reasonable. Though overall was an enjoyable stay with a good location."

"It's a lovely place, though Hilo itself is a bit run down. Itxs a great place to stay if you are going to go hiking, or to a much less crowded beach, but just know that dining is limited and nightlife is almost non-existent. "

"They have free filtered water, tea, coffee, hot water. The place is very relaxing. They have a pond with fish and ducks. They have a flower garden, a massage therapist on site. An area with board games and puzzles. A restaurant is attached to the hotel. The bay is right across from the hotel. You can get paddle boards to use for free in the Bay. They also have bikes for you to use. The beds were comfy. There is air conditioner or you can leave the huge window open and use the ceiling fan."

"Enjoyed our stay at Mahana. Located about 15 min from Hilo. Quite country feel. Great common area with full kitchen and living room. If allergic to cats or need AC this place isn't for you. "
