This is not the right time to visit Holguin
The room itself was great: clean, well air-conditioned, with fast internet. However, I must warn you about a potential issue while staying in this town, especially if you appear to be a tourist and don't speak Spanish. The town is patrolled by the military at night, and some locals may attempt to take advantage of tourists. My recommendation would be to stay in the resort area if possible, at least for now.

Great place to stay in Holguin
Great place and great family. If you need a place in Holguin for one night or several this is an excellent choice. They arranged my taxis and also served up a very nice breakfast for a fair price.

We feel very lucky to have chanced upon Hostal Oscar. The hosts are fabulous and their house is large and very comfortable. Breakfasts are delicious and abundant. Oscar and Yvette are big fans of Cuban music and they invited us to a concert in a cafe nearby…it was such a pleasure to hear authentic songs performed with such passion. Everyone was so friendly and inclusive….it was certainly a highlight of our trip and we will definitely be listening to the Cuban music they introduced us to!

I had emergency and could not go to Holguin. I forgot to cancel as I was under lots of pressure. The owner refused to refund any money. I doubt if I will ever go to Cuba. Their mentality seems to be money money and money. They do not seem to be considerate. Orbitz usually sends e-mail few days prior to reservation. Orbitz failed to notify me about this booking otherwise I would have taken care of the cancellation. Anyhow! I lost almost $150 even though I had emergency and I had offered to send the paper work

My husband and I enjoyed Oscar and Evette’s home so much! They are kind and warm and so helpful! The room we stayed in was so clean and comfortable with new towels and linens daily. They both helped us with Spanish and taxi service and places to go. What a wonderful place to visit ! The breakfast was prepared for us daily and it was so tasty with fresh fruit and wonderful sweets! You will enjoy Cuba and the wonderful people you meet there we will always call Oscar and stay with him every visit to Cuba!! Thank you Oscar and Evette!
