"First time at a ryokan, so I had no specific expectations. Traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast were excellent. Close to bus stop that’s only about 10 minutes from the train and bus stations. Shuttle service is also available. 10-15 walk from the Hida No Sato open-air museum, although it’s a fairly steep uphill walk."

"Loved my stay (in the female only dormitory) - the bedroom, shower rooms and toilets were soo clean, very impressive. "We stayed in the family suite. The design was well thought out and the beds were comfortable. The location was across the street from a 7 Eleven which was super convenient. There is a ramen place next door. It is a close walk to the bus station and you can walk from the hotel into town. Overall it was a really pleasant stay for a family of 5."

"We loved our stay here - our room was large and comfortable and well equipped and the breakfast was excellent. Location was perfect - so close to the station but also walkable distance to all the main sights. Only downside to our room was that there are no windows to open and the one window was frosted. Beware that while there are lifts inside, it’s about 30 steps up to reception which can make for a challenging time with luggage! "

"Our stay here was definitely the highpoint of our trip. Hida Takayama is my favorite place in Japan. Our stay here made it even better.
