The Drive:
A scenic drive on the highway along the dramatic coastline takes you past Kailua-Kona, to history-rich Keauhou, Kealakekua, Captain Cook, and Honaunau, through the Big Island’s fertile agricultural region, where coffee grows alongside macadamia, cacao, vanilla beans, avocado, and an endless feast of tree-ripened fruit.

The Home:
Enter the home and you will notice it was designed to capture every breeze. The spacious living area is equipped with a flat screen TV, media player, WiFi, games, guidebooks, and leisure reading. Comfortable furniture invites you to relax under the cathedral ceiling supported by solid ohia logs.

The airy primary bedroom features a king size bed made of local ohia wood and has a separate walk-in closet, primary bath, and a private lanai. The guest bedroom has a queen bed, separate full bath and a lanai of its own. The large kitchen is equipped with everything to make enjoyable meals from scratch.

The Location:

The steep hillside is caressed by ocean breezes and incredible views of old lava flows and crystal waters. A swim in the ocean is just 150 yards away. Look for turtles or even a monk seal resting on the beautiful black lava pebble beach. Enjoy sitting on the shaded lanai while you watch the tropical sunset or look for breaching whales.

Kaohe Bay is well known for scenic snorkeling – you will find snorkel gear, water toys, beach furniture, umbrella and cooler to enjoy during your visit.

Ho’okena Beach Park and Milolii Beach Park are nearby. Grab a quick bite or a freshly brewed cup of 100% Kona coffee at Menehune Coffee. Don’t miss Pu’uhonua O Honaunau (Place of Refuge) and allow a day to visit Volcanoes National Park.

We provide complimentary starter essentials including paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, laundry detergent, hand soap, and trash bags.

Second time at this location…what we like in a VRBO. It is spacious, clean and well located for daily adventures around island. The sound of the ocean waves is ever present. Well equipped but affords space for your personal items. I love the kitchen, we love to cook❤️.

Secluded paradise
The property is at the back of a small neighborhood. The road in and out is steep, but not stressfull due to low traffic and plenty of width. The beach is smooth pebbles. It looks awesome. Sunsets are beautiful. Water is great for snorkeling. The kitchen is well stocked. The veranda is a great spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing and traveling.

Well-stocked with amenities
The property is great and location beautiful. Clarification that the "pebble" beach really means a Big Island, rocky-type beach, not always safe for swimming would be helpful. While the open screened nature of the property is amenable to breezes, there are times where the humidity and lack of wind combine to make it uncomfortably hot in the house. Some airconditioning for those times would be appreciated. The amenities like the grill, snorkeling equipment, kayak, etc. are all great and in good condition. Really made our stay more enjoyable.

Great location, fully stocked but no Ac
This place was super convenient to Pebbles beach with great snorkeling! It was fully stocked with beach gear and full kitchen. But it was very warm there, I guess because it’s at the bottom of the mountain. It could have just been a warm patch of weather during our stay. It did cool down a little bit at night. And it really is a beautiful location that was just a couple hundred feet from the beach! The road down to the house is a 1/2 mile down a windy stretch of mountainside. It’s helpful to have an all wheel drive/4-wheel drive vehicle on the big island.

Lovely location near Pebble Beach
This is a very comfortable, spacious, airy house in a quiet neighborhood a short walk from Pebble Beach. House is well-provisioned and rental agents very responsive. Enjoy the sound of surf and bird calls. This was my second stay at this house, and I hope to come here again.

Great spot 1 block from black pebble beach. Fans and airflow and screens kept cool. Location between volcano and Kailua can allow easy access to either. Loved it.

Exacty as advertised.
This property was as advertised, actually better than advertised. I was unsure if there was a view of the ocean from the lanai, and I can confirm indeed there is a lovely view. You will hear the pounding surf at night. As stated, there is no AC, but I found the home to be comfortable at all times without it. The kitchen is well appointed. I loved the location, which is quiet and somewhat isolated from the hustle and bustle of the busy tourist areas further north. Indeed, you are a good 25-30 minutes away from any kind of restaurant or civilization. The beach was quite turbulent most of the time I was here, so don't come expecting clear still waters. That said, Pebbes Beach is a sight to behold, unlike any other beach I have seen bounded by primordial lava rock. Make sure you find the path to the right that leads to more beach front. I enjoyed walking down from the house to the beach to watch the sun set every night. As others have noted, the road to/from the property will probably be the steepest road most people will encounter in their lives (San Franciscans exempt), but it's still perfectly safe and smooth in even a basic rental car. Just go slow. I look forward to returning to this property again in the future.

Overall good
Loved the privacy and space we had as a family. July is a humid time to come and no AC - fine temps at night but it was HOT when we got home each day. Would be improved with a moving window AC unit. We had a few cockroaches. Lots of bugs (mosquitoes) this time of year so did not get to enjoy the deck. The drive down to the house is steep - a 900 ft elevation drop. But it was fine. Nice short walk to the pebble beach - decent snorkeling there! A drive to anywhere else

Phenomenal location
If you want a house within a short walk to a gorgeous beach, this is it! Pebble beach is awesome! Great swimming. Good snorkeling. Fun to walk around. The neighborhood is super quiet and everyone is friendly. The house is well equipped. It was hot the first night from being shut up, but fine the rest of the time. The kitchen is well equipped and the layout it great for couples and families. The carpet does need to be replaced and it would bother me if I had an infant or toddler. You do have to drive pretty far for all services, so if you don’t want to plan meals, then this is not your place. I would pay more to stay here again if the carpet was replaced!

This was a very nice property to spend the week at. The road down to the house was an adventure (very steep), so be sure to drive in a low gear down. The house is beautifully furnished, and was in a good location for us to travel all over the island.

A steep drive but beautiful spot
Getting down to Kona Dreams is a challenging drive and really pushes the brakes on your car, but once you are there it is a very nice retreat. The carpets are a little dirty, but for the most part the house was well equipped, although I did have to set up the TV as everything was disconnected when we arrived. Pebble beach is a great place to watch the sunset and the neighbors were pretty quiet and keep to themselves. The house gets hot during the day and does not have AC, but the sea breeze cools it off well in the evenings. If you are really looking to disconnect this could be the place for you.

Tropical Retreat With Sunset Views
Drive from Kona airport takes about an hour due to speed limits and winding roads ... depending on traffic. Views along the way are spectacular at different intervals. Upon arriving at the entrance to the subdivision, as you make your way down the steeply sloped road down to the house, the views are truly amazing! Lovely house with living quarters on 2nd floor. Two bedrooms at opposite ends; Master bedroom has a large walk-in closet, with shelves and hanging space; Large living room overlooking the ocean with plenty of seating and floor space, with three sliding glass doors to balconies/lanais. Both bedrooms have a sliding glass door, as does the kitchen. Large kitchen with all needed dishes, utensils and cookware. There is a Mr. Coffee coffee maker, a blender, a crock pot, a cutlery set of knives. There are some spices and Pink Sea Salt and pepper. All of the rooms have beautiful vaulted ceilings with large support timbers. There is also a laundry room with sink, washer and dryer. Hand and bath towels provided in both bathrooms. There is also two beach towels also provided in each bedroom. There is a garage, which I thought was off limits, but later found out it is where the trash is kept in two covered cans. Its also where you'll find beach chairs, flippers and water shoes to use at will. There is also a two man kayak to use at the Black Pebbles beach (amazing beach), which is within a short walk from the house. You'll feel at home staying in this property. At dawn birds begin chirping along with other early morning nature sounds. At sunset the cool night breezes take away any daytime heat within the house, requiring a blanket or two to sleep, (which are provided.) At night as you go to sleep you're serenaded with nature sounds of frogs, etc. The property is located in the southern part of the west coast, ideal for driving to Kona, or on the other end to Volcano National Park and Hilo. It is a good ten miles or so drive to the first grocery store, restaurants and gas stations. Although the location was ideal, we found ourselves spending most of the time in the Kona area to experience the beaches there. All in all a great relaxing, enjoyable stay!

Nice house for our family of 4
This is a great house! My kids thought it was the perfect Hawaii house. Walking distance to the beach was nice. There were some days of waves that made it too rough to go into the water, but it was still nice to sit and watch the waves. No view of the ocean from the house, but it was close enough to hear it. It's about an hour south of Kona, and an hour from Volcano Park.

Lovely Home
We loved staying at Kona Dreams. The house was homey and spacious with everything we could need. We were sad that the neighbor dogs barked each morning outside the master bedroom window at 6:30 am after the owner left. We also didn't realize how steep of an incline the road was leading to the house. It was lovely waking up to the sound of the ocean each morning and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Mahalo!

Loved the beach access, but house and location have issues.
We enjoyed our stay. The location is great next to the beach. We appreciated the extra beach gear and kayak. However, A few things warrant a reduced rating: the neighbors have loud vehicles and they also have 2 barky dogs that they leave outside all day and night. Several times at various times of the night we had to literally yell at the dogs at night to quiet them down so we could sleep. The owner did call the HOA to ask neighbors to quiet the dogs after we called the owners rep so we appreciated follow up but there is only so much they could do. Also, the carpet and floors are old and warn, and prior reviews indicated they were going to be replaced 2 years ago but apparently were not. Lastly, there are several placards places around the house with basic instructions which is nice and they say the rainwater capture supply is filtered, treated and safe to drink. However, my son and I both fell ill by the third day into our trip and I suspect the water is not potable. My husband checked for the filter, found it and filter media was dirty/brown with algae in it. The house came with some bottled water in the fridge, but we didn’t notice it in time and trusted the house instructions. We recommend just buying filtered water.

Wow
Well the house was fine, but quite far from Captain Cook's Bay. The management of this property is horrific. I have never been treated so rudely and unprofessional in my 60 years. You see I left my swimsuit and booties at the property. I called Heidi the day after we departed. She said she would ask the maid and send back to me in the mail. And she would charge my credit card for cost of mailing. No problem. I assumed she would call me back to confirm that they were found. Two days passed with no word so I left her a voice mail. Another two passed and no word I left another VM. Another day passed and no word and I left another VM to please just let me know and I was thinking of putting this experience in this review. Wow she calls be back saying I left things in the kitchen and I purposely did not flush a toilet. She had been sick (delayed response) and she would never rent to me again. And she was now going to charge me $25 to mail my belongings. Well I did leave a couple of things in the kitchen, but I paid a tidy cleaning deposit. We followed the directions on clean up very close. Leaving a toilet unflushed was a blatantly rude, crass, and uncalled for statement. She made it out as if we were human pigs. I must admit I have forgotten to flush a toilet in my life, but never intentionally. It has been 12 days and no returned belongings I would not recommend staying at this property due to the Property Management.
