Noku Kyoto
4.0 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (914)
"Great location. Lovely hotel steps from Marutamachi subway station. Good hub for buses also. Comfortable walk to sights (Nijo Castle, Kyoto Imperial Palace). Extremely clean. Quiet, spacious room. Wonderful breakfast. (The only alternative for breakfast in the area was MacDonalds; other restaurants opened much later.) Helpful staff. Our family of 3 adults (2 parents & 1 adult child) had a room with 2 twin beds + bed sofa. Unfortunately, the bed sofa was too hard to sleep on, so our daughter...

9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, (150)
"Absolutely beautiful hotel. What I love the most is the private onsen in the room. It's in a semi-open space (not in the room, but under a roof kind of in the back balcony). The private onsen refills itself, and temperature regulated. It was amazing. Beautiful scenery, excellent staff, exceptional breakfast."

Kyo-machiya Stay WAKA Fushimiinari-tei
4.5 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (16)
"We were excited to stay at such a beautiful home, but became increasingly disappointed as we found one thing after another missing or broken. The bathroom sink faucet wouldn't run. Neither tub was usable. The sauna light was burned out. The pillows with the futons didn't have pillow cases. The communication for the check-in procedure was contradictory, causing us to wait outside the gate for 20 minutes for someone who never showed up. And 30 minutes before we were supposed to check out, two...
