"My second stay here. Manager upgraded me to panoramic view. Again, amazing Michelin star restaurant reservations for lunch and dinner. Early and fast check-in (less than a minute), super clean, modern, classy. Great space. Staff did some grocery shopping for me as I had a tight schedule. They also booked my Shinkansen tickets and driver for half day. Washer-dryer in suite, Maru was too kind to run it while I was away. Beautiful!"

"This small hotel is perfect in every way. The room was surprisingly spacious relative to Japanese rooms, and the fall foliage from our balcony was lovely. But it was the sweetness of the staff that we will most remember. When an Uber failed to show, the manager came out and hailed a taxi for us. As we were leaving, I paused about a half block away to check Google maps; my wife noticed that the hotel staff that was seeing us of, remained outside to make sure that we were OK. "The Guesthouse Hyakumanben Cross was charming and kept very clean. The owners, a mother and daughter, were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I was surprised at how convenient the location is! Nearby Demachi Yanagi train station is a sort of terminal station at the north east side of Kyoto city. It's a good starting point to go down into the city, or up north out of the city for mountain temple sightseeing. Hyakumanben itself is near Kyoto University, so there are so many different bus lines...

"The location was great, easy 5 min walk to subway and bus. Only 15 mins to market and shopping. The room was comfortable and a good size for Japanese standards. It is nice to have a kitchenette and there was free water. We only received 1 towel each and had to ask for extra towels which was not a problem. I asked for an extra pillow and they did not have any, that is a first and very unfortunate since it made my sleeping less comfortable."

"This was a spacious, comfortable and unique property in a good location. It was immaculately clean. There is a Lawson store next door and a number of good restaurants nearby. It is in walking distance to the Heian Shrine and Nanzenji Temple. Bus stops are just outside and subway stations are very close. The hotel is on a busy street, but the room is well insulated and very quiet. It has a washing machine that is supposed to also function as a dryer, but we didn’t have much luck with the dryer...
