"We were really disappointed on arrival as the hotel was covered in scaffolding and the entrance looked much more like a 1970s multi-storey carpark than a 4* hotel. The stairs (the lift was out of order), reception area and room were very dated. The soundproofing in the bathroom was non-existent (my wife could hear everything next door). Having said that the beds were comfortable, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was ok."

We stayed in the Victorian Garden Suite which is worth the extra cost with fabulous views of the gardens and grounds. Service was first class. We had breakfast and evening meals both days. "Great hotel. We stayed in the Hamlet apartment as a young family, which worked great for the flexibility and allowed us to make the most of the hotel amenities. The apartment itself needed some TLC and maybe an upgrade e.g. shower fitting nearly coming off the wall, some door handles almost coming off and some very worn carpet. Breakfast and service was great, restaurant prices quite steep, and the spa was great with children swimming hours. Overall, we had a great time and allowed us a short...
